Counseling Professor Tiffany O’Shaughnessy recently published the paper “Preliminary Validation of the Client Experiences of LGBQ Affirmative Therapy (CATS) Scale” in the Journal of LGBTQ Issues in Counseling. A mini-grant from the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs funded this work.

The tool is designed to allow consumers of therapy services to assess whether their provider is affirming. O’Shaughnessy says she is hopeful that the tool will be used in future outcome studies to enhance the quality of therapy.
